Still growing! I still feel great, and it feels good to get extra sleep. Our next Dr.'s appt. is this Wednesday! She still kicks everyday, and "swirls" around in my tummy. Pray that we find a name soon! My shower is being planned, and it may be Oct. 11th. I'm going to buy pink paint for her room soon! I thank God everyday I feel this great. How Our Baby Girl's Growing:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. Her hearing is well established and she can make out a distorted version of your voice, the beating of your heart and your stomach rumblings. Loud noises often heard in utero, such as the barking of a dog next door or the roar of a vacuum cleaner, probably won't bother your child when she hears them outside the womb.
Some studies seem to indicate that the unborn prefer classical music.
If your baby were to be born now, she would have a small chance of survival (about 44 per cent) with the right care. Every day in the womb makes a difference at this stage.
