31 Weeks! 8 Weeks/60 Days To Go!

How Mia's Growing:
Your baby's arms, legs and body continue to fill out – and they are finally proportional in size to her head. She weighs about 3.5 lbs. and looks more like a newborn. She measures about 18 in. from crown to toe.

Your baby's movements are probably changing - they may seem less frequent and less forceful because she's running out of room in your uterus and can't turn somersaults any more. As long as you can feel her squirming, you'll know she's just fine. Believe it or not, she still has plenty of growing to do. You can expect her to gain at least 900g before birth. Your baby can now move her head from side to side, her organs are continuing to mature and a layer of fat is being laid down beneath her skin.

She is now passing water from her bladder. Also the bone marrow has taken over from the liver in producing red blood cells. Soon you can wonder what your baby is wishing for – brain scans have shown that babies have periods of dream sleep around month eight.

You've probably gained between 1.3kg and 1.8kg this month. Gaining 450g a week is quite normal during the last trimester as your baby has a final growth spurt before birth. By this stage, most babies have turned head down into the "cephalic" position ready for birth. A few take a little longer and a few remain stubbornly upright in the "breech" position. If your baby is breech, there's still time for her to turn.
